Aychef Interview

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Aychef. Aychef is short for Hood Fella pronounces HF! I got the name Hood Fella from growing up as A Neighborhood Fella in the mean streets of Philadelphia where I was 1st arrested as a juvenile at the age of 14. I was young and reckless and when I came home from jail I started making music and performing as Hood Fella in 2000.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Aychef. I first started to listen to hip hop when I was in middle school in 7th grade. I was coming home from school with my sister and her boyfriend he was in High School. I had this Walkman headset and he asked to hear it, I was playing R&B back then but he played Notorious B.I.G. “One More Chance” and I fell in love with hip hop ever since. I was a huge Bad Boy fan any artist that came under Puffy I was listening too. I started making music online for fun in 1999 with freestyles over other records until I made enough music to put out my first mixtape which was in 2003 called “So Soulful” it was a double mixtape on datpiff.com

HCM. To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Aychef. I have to give credit to Jay-Z hands down. My style and tone coming up were very similar to his I admit but once you learn yourself and grow if you’re a true artist you’ll find yourself. Nas as well with the storytelling abilities, and I would add in a lil' Mase cause my style is really chill and cool.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album... How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Aychef. Revived concept is going from one Artist name to Another. I started out as Hood Fella to return with Aychef just basically a shorter text and different spelling of my original name. Revived is to return but just in a different form.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Aychef. Some of my greatest challenges are not being social enough to gain more attention to my projects... I always believe people will treat you how you treat them so if you show love you get it back... Many times I don’t like to be fake if I don’t like something I won’t be apart of it. Some of my best attributes are getting music done very quickly at 1st when I started to rap again I also forgot how-to for a second nothing would come out. I took time to just find peace and instrumentals that hit homemade me vent well on them because I’m a very anti-social person I hold a lot in some musically it’s a relief and a masterpiece.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Aychef. I just want them to be happy, inspired and say wow he has matured. I’ve lyrically and emotionally change with the times and that’s hard to do for a lot and I still never used auto-tune I think I wouldn’t mind trying in 2020.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Aychef. In the future, I usually plant the seeds in advance so I wanna continue to make great music and live life nice via happiness. I’m getting older so a lot of the things I used to do I don’t now and grew out of. More business Savy and pay my taxes and pray to make it alive.

HCM. Is there anyone you'd like to thank, any shout outs?
Aychef. I’d like to thank GOD for another day, Great Health, And Wealth! my Umi for keeping me grounded the Love of my life. The supporters... One heavy dedication to my Abu Daoud I really do miss you. Uncle P... and all my Philly bros! One ❤️
