Matt Warren's “Music is My Life” Review
November 20, 2018

I was out dancing with my home girls on a Friday, with my Blatino posse. We were kicking it at the East Room. I wasn’t paying no never mind until the DJ started doing this joint. I said find me someone fine to dance to this. When I hit the East Side with my girls, I am always trying to listen to the new music. We started dancing to this “Get on Up”, and I asked the DJ who it was. She said it was some Chicago DJ named Matt Warren. Hmmn hmmn, I got to find this record, so I did.
I didn’t know anything about this guy. He was a DJ, before I was born, but he has mad skills. I put on this “Music is My Life”, and was like, damn, this shizzle moves me, Daddy. It has that Latina feel and that beat that feels like chocolate syrup running down the tongue. There is a lot to love about this music, every song just rubs me right in places I did not even know I had. There is this jam called “Way to My Heart” that turns my own heart into a big heart. Ooh it is jumping and I can’t help dancing with the lights on all day and night to that one. It is about love, but true, true love. Not that old kind of love that is an understanding between two fools. I also love that “Catch Me If You Can”. Yeah, I love singing along with those I’m the best you’ll ever get... evahhhh, words. So right, So right! That breakdown with that Will Ferrell Anchorman Flute thing just sounds like da bomb.
I did some looking around on YouTube and I saw some songs that were not on this new record, but I liked them very much too. “Rock this Nation” has that old school house sound, with the knocking and popping, and all that robot mess running up and down. “I got the mix to make your body dance and twist.”, now that stuff still sound bumpin’. This Mack Matt has been working the tables for a long time. Over in Europe, here in town, producing and getting paid for slinging the H.armonies O.f U.niquely S.oulful M. usic. He drops this album like it was hot on me and I love it. Anything that keeps me moving like this music does is gonna be a keeper for me. Peace out.
