The rapper known as Shawt has released his latest LP album, “Black Roses.” The titanic record comprises 15 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of one full hour. It has been proudly released on the EastBeast Entertainment music label. A hardcore rap record from the American South with roots grabbing deep into the hip-hop underground, “Black Roses” stands as proof that Shawt is not just here at last, but here for good.

Shawt (who also performs under the professional name, Shawt Fella) cites as main artistic influences only Michael Jackson and Sean Carter (Jay-Z). His unmistakable, inimitable style results from a blend of East Coast and “Dirty South” rap fundamentals, capped by a unique mode of delivery which marks him as a staple of the New-Orleans hip hop scene. Among other titles, Shawt has been referred to as the “Creole Spice of Rap.”

Shawt's music is anchored in his steadfast attention to lyrical excellence. Having come to music via his penchant for writing poetry, Shawt ensures that every track he pens has at its heart a solid ground in content. Speaking of the themes on which “Black Roses” was built, Shawt writes, “[I'm] sharing real life situations that are going on in my environment and life, and offering solutions to the problems that are plaguing my community.”

Shawt Fella's official bio marks him as “one of the most profitable unsigned mixtape artists in Louisiana.” He broke mainstream during a stint with Johnathan Bender's Akright Records label, during which he worked with such popular figures as Scarface, Lil' Mo, the Clipse, Currency and Mack Mane, as well as producers including Mannie Fresh, KLC and Fiend. His EastBeast Ent. mixtapes flowed freely following his split from Akright: “South Tsunami,” “Rolling Stones,” “It's Him Again,” “No Excuses,” and now, “Black Roses,” arguably his most widely anticipated LP in recent years.

“Black Roses” by Shawt is available online worldwide.
