Live Action Battle Rap to Host Escape for Good Opening Party in New Orleans with Host Terp2it
May 21, 2014
On May 22 the Escape for Good Race will kick off its race festivities with Live Action Battle Rap, hosted by Terp2it. The party will be hosted at Dragon’s Den in New Orleans and will feature stand-up comedy from The New Movement.
The Live Action Battle Rap, which has been seen at festivals such as SXSW, features a collection of freestyle rappers from amateurs to pros, nerds and jocks. These contestants compete in special challenges and it is the audience who decides which rapper makes it to the next round.
Terp2it is thrilled to host the Escape for Good opening party. The race will begin the following day on Friday, May 23rd. Escape is an annual charity race, where contestants will don the costumes and personas of their favorite heroes. Two-person teams must travel from New Orleans, LA to Detroit, MI with no money in their pocket. The participants will make the thousand-plus mile trek in 36-hours using their good wit and power of persuasion. This year's participants include Jeremiah Bitsui, Victor from Breaking Bad, and actress Estrella Nouri. As well, Rocco Gardner, the Escape for Good Founder, is racing for the charity Sweet Relief, which provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.
Each Escape for Good NOLA team will raise money for their charity of choice, with the winning team receiving a bonus prize of $20,000 for their charity, and the runner up garnering $5,000.
Past Escape for Good races, originating in New York City and Los Angeles have earned $10,000 and $20,000, respectively with teams crossing the country (and even the Atlantic) dressed in hero attire.
To sign up to enter teams visit www.esca.pe. Teams must raise a minimum of $250 for their charity to qualify for the start line.
