Dr. Gregory McPherson Teams up with Hip Hop’s Own Spyder D to Launch New Single, ‘I Hate Being Black’

Celebrated University Educator, Dr. Gregory McPherson, is teaming up with Hip Hop Owns Spyder D to launch the movement to analyze the current status quo of racial equality in the current world climate.

McPherson is teaming up with Spyder D on his drop highly anticipated single, “I Hate Being Black”, a single that addresses the plight of the evolution of racism in today’s social setting. The music video is set to be produced in Atlanta, Georgia.

A legally blind teacher and author, McPherson recently penned a new literary work in regards to social consciousness and racism in America entitled “A Black Face in Today’s Music Business”, a exploring the roles and responsibilities of African Americans in today’s music industry which include some of the ongoing challenges related to the perpetuation of modern racism.

Hip Hop’s own Spyder D Shares: “I have been taking a lot of flak for penning a song called “I Hate Being Black” and now this very thing that we are looking at in the media from the comments of Donald Sterling. The current Sterling controversy will seemingly vindicate me for writing the song. Go listen to the words.

When asked about the single, Dr. McPherson shared: “I Hate Being Black” is a powerful song that strikes a chord in the mindset of African Americans around the world. It is not about hating ourselves but rather the racial profiling and prejudices that appear throughout our exercising of our freedoms. It is the theme of my book which speaks about the very same subject. We are besieged with high blood pressure, diabetes and other illnesses that many times are the result of the stresses of trying to overcome modern day racism in all of its shapes and colors. It is my conviction to stand side by side with Spyder D as we stir up the open dialogue to address the issues of modern racism, its effects on the psychological and physical health of African Americans and how we can move forward in a more informed way”, says Dr. Gregory McPherson.

Dr. McPherson and Spyder D were introduced by Kim Weekes, an Atlanta based entertainment promoter and producer.

Spyder D, a legendary pioneering rapper and producer from Queens, NY, was the first rap artist to open up his own record label in which he wrote and produced his first hit record, “Big Apple Rappin”. . He has also recently released a collectors edition EP entitled "Big City Rappin'". Spyder has shared his experiences in the music industry, through his autobiography: “So You Wanna Be a Rapper”, written by Mark Skillz and foreword written by Hip Hop Mogul Russell Simmons.
