FREDERICK, Md. January 10, 2014 — Combining their distinct sounds and talents, Philadelphia-native Temika Moore is teaming up with Washington, D.C.-based Kenny Wesley to present an evening of music at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. Part of the Weinberg's Tivoli Society Discovery Series, their performance will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Echoing elements of jazz, soul and gospel music, Moore has shared the stage with the likes of Will Downing, Roy Ayers, Marcus Johnson and the late Stanley Turrentine. A graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Creative & Performing Arts, Moore went on to study music at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she received the first Ella Fitzgerald Music Scholarship award.

The North Carolina-born, Washington, D.C.-based Wesley is a fan-favorite of the FOX television series So You Think You Can Dance; his newest single, “Damaged Goods," debuted on the program in May 2013. Wesley has been a three-time nominee for the Washington-Area Music Awards (Wammies) and recently received second prize as the U.S. representative for the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival's Shure Vocal Competition. His debut, full-length album, The Real Thing, has received a warm reception from both pop and soul worlds, heralded as a progressive, groundbreaking effort.

Weinberg's Tivoli Society Discovery Series is designed to showcase rising talent from a variety of musical genres. Its unique pay-what-you-want ticket pricing allows audiences to choose how much to give toward a particular artist's event. In addition to Moore and Wesley, the 2013-14 series features Snarky Puppy, and Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line and Quinn Sullivan.

A complete listing of artists and performers scheduled for Weinberg's 2013-14 season can be found at www.weinbergcenter.org. Tickets for all shows are now on sale and may be purchased online at www.weinbergcenter.org or at the Weinberg Center Box Office located at 20 W. Patrick Street in Frederick.

The Weinberg Center for the Arts is one of the region’s premier performing arts presenters offering film, dance, music, theatre and family-focused programming. Located in the historic Tivoli movie theater building in downtown Frederick, Md., events are made possible with major support from the City of Frederick, Maryland State Arts Council, Ausherman Family Foundation, and other corporate and individual donors.
