Ask Me What I Think If I Ruled T.O. Hosted By Bow Wow
October 21, 2013
Toronto Community Housing is stepping up their efforts to empower our youth, by helping them acquire the tools and confidence they need to make a difference in their lives and in their communities. IF I RULED T.O. youth summit will give youth from across the city a platform to be heard and to be involved. This motivational entertainment event will feature key note speakers from politicians, celebrities and community leaders, who will share their stories, talent and messages of inspiration. They will be able to engage these leaders and decision makers in a dialogue about the challenges related to growing up in their communities. They will be heard. As part of Year Of The Youth, Action Plan Grants were designed and given out to recognize the creative and innovated ideas youth have to improve their communities. This summer 50 grants were awarded to lead initiatives improving the communities they live in and the challenges they face every day. In addition, Three $10,000 and Four $2500.00 awards will be given out at the IF I RULED T.O. summit. Over 1000 youth from Toronto Community Housing neighbourhoods will take part in this motivational event. The day will begin with empowering stories from special guests followed by workshops and seminars where their voices will be heard. Their voices on the changes they would make if they were in positions of power with the people that are. An opportunity to speak openly and freely on education, police relations, youth programming, politics and housing, gaining the necessary tools to go back to their communities and effect change at a local level. The event will end with a dinner and very special concert, hosted by BET's 106 & Park's personality BOW WOW, with performances by Glenn Lewis, Jully Black and more to be announced.
"Empower our youth to discover the difference and inspire the change."
