Before moving to Fort Wayne, IN, the California native were embarking on a musical journey with an unknown destination. Both siblings learned professional musicality from a young age, and were enrolled in a hip-hop dance academy. Over time, KJ became more intrigued by the percussion and focused more on that. In the summer of 2006, KJ and Mila’s cousins and two of Mila’s friends created a musical group for fun and realized how much they loved writing and recording. The group eventually came to an end when work and school schedules became a conflict. The Sims’ decided to keep making music and formed the band Chrome Cats who eventually signed with LakeFront Records. They wrote and recorded music religiously in order to sculpt and mould a unique sound that would be comfortable and represent them in the truest way. The two moved on to Fort Wayne in 2009 and kept working on their music. Since then, they have moved to Chicago and generated a cult-like following with roughly a quarter-million views on YouTube, and a continuously growing fan base on Facebook, and were even featured in Music Connection Magazine’s - “Year End Top 25 Signing Stories. In May of 2012, Chrome Cats released their first national single, “DNA of A Winner”, produced by three-time Billboard charting producer Floyd “Timeless” Thomas, marking the return of real lyricism, feel-good urban music with an introspective angle. They’ve also released a music video for their single “Fight to Paradise,” which helped blow them up and put them on the map as unique artists and refined performers.
