Glitch Arsonist releases new LP 'Ten Years of Writing'
April 14, 2013
The rap artist from Queens, NY, has released his long-awaited LP album, “Ten Years of Writing,” to rave reviews. The album is comprised of 13 original tracks for a total playing time of approximately 40 minutes. Its themes vary from the deep and meaningful to the carefree and musing, each track but one marked with the explicit lyrics tag for Glitch's proud and poetic expressions of free speech.
The record is packed wall-to-wall with heavy, old-school back beats, but at no time does the music outshine Glitch Arsonist, himself. His backing music is truly awe-inspiring at times, however, as in his powerful and gorgeous anthem, “It's So Lovely,” which features a spooky, pretty piano melody that the Arsonist paints with rhymes and lines so clever and intuitive, it's almost as if he were quoting them. Glitch is a rapper from the old tradition, a true Shakespeare of the streets. His words are quick, sure, and honest, cutting right to the bone of whatever topic on which he happens to be philosophizing. Like Glitch himself, his lyrics are smart, fearless, and boldly aggressive.
“Everything you do is a stepping stone,” he writes openly. “If people ain’t hating on you, then there’s something you're not doing right – so don’t let hate fold you.”
This prizefighter's temperament is balanced with Glitch's good sense and calm demeanor. He has the patience and discerning mind of a chess player. “Always remain humble,” he continues. “That ego s*** is no good. It might be good for recording purposes, but it’s no good for networking purposes.”
Truer words were never spoken. “Ten Years of Writing” is full of proverbs from Glitch such as this, and the beats that go with them are basic, bass-driven, and nothing but good. The only demand the music listening world must make of Glitch Arsonist following this phenomenal record is, “Please, Glitch, don't take ten years to give us another.”
“Ten Years of Writing” by Glitch Arsonist is available online worldwide beginning 14 April 2013.
