The music act familiarly known as Living a Dream has released their newest single, titled, “A Shooting Star.” The song is a whimsical, fantastic journey through time and imagination to chase that which everyone needs to search for whenever things get tough: one's dreams. The song takes the listener from the original sighting of a shooting star through a series of make-believe visions to arrive at a place that is colorful, vibrant, and full of life. It is a celebration and an emancipation from the dreary and the dull – but mostly, Living a Dream's song is about just plain fun.

Living a Dream is, at their heart, Carl Nixon (AKA Carl Nix). Nixon is a native of Detroit, MI who has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. Most of his solo work may be found and enjoyed under his aforementioned stage name, Carl Nix. Living a Dream is also the handiwork of Ms. Kj Allen, whose songwriting combines with Nixon's to produce some of the most creative and heartfelt rock, gospel, alternative, and adult contemporary music being produced today.

Regarding the history of Living a Dream, Nixon himself writes, “I started [playing music] over twenty years ago, faithfully honing my craft in the rhythm 'n' blues and smooth jazz field. Born and raised in Detroit, it was almost impossible to escape the silkiness of soul music. After mastering those song crafts, I homed in on my other musical passions: rock, country, acoustic, and more. Meeting Kj Allen, a songwriter and guitarist in her own right, Living a Dream was born.”

It may seem unlikely for a single music group to write music in so many disparate genres, but Living a Dream is entirely open-minded and full of music appreciation. Dixon lists as major influences legends such as Bret Michaels, Lady Antebellum, Luther Vandross, Barry White, and Kiss.

Their ambitions don't stop with tunes, either. “We’ll also be releasing independent films,” writes Dixon, “films we’ve co-written, produced, filmed, edited, and starred in.”

Music fans have much to look forward to in the rising star that is “Living a Dream,” therefore.
