OFF MY MEDICATION, the major indie debut from Tulsa, Oklahoma rapper Lega-C (“White Girl Raps Fast”), has been picked up by Select-O-Hits for national distribution to retail chains on January 22.
Released as a digital album on Halloween, a deluxe CD version of OFF MY MEDICATION, featuring bonus tracks and exclusive video, will be available from the legendary Memphis-based distributor, whose catalog includes independent releases by 8-Ball & MJG, Three Six Mafia, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, and UGK.
Danielle McLean, better known by her stage name Lega-C, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer, who burst onto the independent music scene with her platinum YouTube video "White Girl Raps Fast", which has generated millions of views online and led to her signing with the Block Starz Music label.
The first music video from OFF MY MEDICATION, "That Bitch", debuted online October 22 as a street release to the official radio single, "Speaking Sublimely", which features Wrekonize (MTV Battle II) of Strange Music’s rap/rock band ¡Mayday!. The digital album, which is now available from Block Starz Music on iTunes, was an instant critical success with independent and underground music blogs declaring, "the Tulsa Twista is more than a one trick pony" and the release as "a collection of defiant grit anthems that... prove that looks can be deceiving". The album has also been praised for its, “hard beats and a sleek, clean lyrical flow” and was referred to as “5 Star” by TheSource.com
“We're very excited to have Select-O-Hits pick up the CD,” says Block Starz president Bayer Mack of the deal, which was brokered by Jay Warsinke of Los Angeles-based marketing firm IndiePower, LLC.
