ABOUT: Hailing from the streets of Côte-des-Neiges, right in the core of Montreal, Canada,NYCE aka Mista Uptown has been taking his street knowledge and turning it into music to help elevate his life and that of others for years. Having already performed and toured alongside legendary hip-hop names like Raekwon (Wu Tang Clan), Inspectah Deck (Wu Tang Clan), Jeru The Damaja, Freeway and Onyx. The charismatic and heavily tattooed young emcee is out to start a dialogue, to sometimes shock and to always make you laugh with his quick wit and sharp tongue.
Known as much for his tattoos as for his rhymes, NYCE lets all forms of art tell his story. It doesn’t matter whether it’s music or ink, NYCE’s goal to share his struggles and triumphs with anyone who’ll listen never waivers and neither does his desire and constant search to break moulds and challenge prejudice of any kind.
“I’ve got ‘Death before dishonor’ on my back, it means a lot because I’m from the streets and out there that means everything, but one of my most important ones is the heart next to my eye. I’m heavily tattooed so people think I’m a gang member. They see me and automatically judge. They see it and think it’s a teardrop, but if they look closer they see the heart. It represents compassion.
