4th Disciple - The Definition Of Chromasywnd Inerview September 21, 2012
Email: info@wu-international.com Url: http://wu-international.com/misc_albums/Interviews/4thDisciple_In[...] Most will remember our well-received Wu-Elements series series from a couple of years ago in which we managed to track down and interview all the key producers from the Wu camp, except for 4th Disciple and The Abbott himself. Patience really is a virtue, as we are proud to announce we finally had the chance to sit down with 4th Disciple to complete one of the two last “chambers” in this great Elements series.
Sound Designer and Audio Engineer, 4th Disciple was one of the Founding Fathers of Wu-Tang's Killarmy and one of the best-known Wu Elements whose sound designs have contributed to the influence and growth of "conscious hip hop" thereby changing the pathways of the lives of many people by encouraging them to seek the Knowledge of Self and preserve authentic Hip Hop. After initially being a Turn-Tablist on the Wu-Tang Clan's debut album 4th Disciple soon co-produced and helped mix several tracks with the Rza on the first three Wu-Tang solo ventures, including co-production for "Sub Crazy" by Method Man, "Damage" by Ol' Dirty Bastard as well as mixing credits for some tracks on Raekwon's “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...” ("Criminology," "Guillotine (Swordz)," and "Wu-Gambinos" to be exact). 4th Disciple then produced what was at the time only the second non RZA Wu-Tang track ever, when the Killah Priest solo track "B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)" was included on GZA's “Liquid Swords”. This instant classic beat led to five 4th Disciple productions appearing on the double album “Wu-Tang Forever”.
In the nineties 4th Disciple produced both full albums and loose tracks for Wu affiliates that are hailed as classics to date, but the last decade he pretty much kept a low profile and was missed by many Wu fans. Luckily the last few years we occasionally saw his name appear again on Wu affiliates projects ( such as Dom P and Hell Razah to name a few). And now he is getting in motion to release (or rather unleash) a number of unreleased classics from his archives as well as some new material. With these upcoming releases 4th Disciple wants to introduce the world to his definition of Chromasywnd ( or Classic Authentic Hip Hop) and promote the growth and preservation of it. So there you go, the second last installment of our superb Wu Elements series which leaves us with one final interview to fulfill … Enjoy !
