Khepera Records Releases Geri King’s CD Masquerade

(June 12, 2012, San Diego, CA) Khepera Record’s International Recording Artist Geri King’s “Masquerade” is an eclectic mix of R&B, with flecks of Jazz, Electronic and Hip-Hop undertones. It is filled with a warm “feel-good” live sound, wrapped in blunt and sometimes deceptively scathing lyrics that flow artfully around the melodies. Though lyrically the subjects stray from Geri’s romanticized notions of love, her undeniably sultry style remains. It is a lavish blend of soul, innovative musical textures, great musicianship, top-notch production and lyrical wit.

When asked why this album came so long after her last album “Always” released in 2004, she says it was difficult to write. “I realized early on that the premise of this album would be very different from my previous ones, and I was really having a time figuring out if I should just let the album be a cathartic release of what I was going through or play it safe. We really wanted to create a sound that would reflect the growth and change and it took time to get it. We ended up finding some great parings as a result of just taking the time to let the project flow on its own without forcing it.” With the help of premier music hardware and software companies such as Steinberg with Cubase, MXL Microphones, Sony Pictures Digital, Izotope, Toontrak, Avid/M-Audio and SampleCraze, Geri credits them for giving her project the tools to shape the sound of the album. “I had been using Sony’s Acid and Sound Forge since my first full album ‘Déjà vu’. The programs and equipment I use from my sponsors are so well designed and intuitive, and the care and quality of the technology behind all of it could only enhance the project. I am honored and privilege that they have all been so generous with allowing me to utilize many key pieces. MXL has a phenomenal line of microphones and I mainly used the Genesis, Revelation and the R77.”

Her loyal fans don’t mind waiting, as they have anticipated this much-acclaimed album.
“That’s what I write for! That’s what I love, to have my music woven into the fabric of someone’s life. Songs that people can define periods of their life with. So, sure I had a hard time making this album and it’s a reflection of me and my philosophies, but if what I say makes someone know they are not alone, it’s well worth it.”

To promote the new release Geri will be doing a series of In-store performances across the U.S. with F.Y.E. as well as special performance dates in Greece, Morocco, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Australia, Russia and Turkey to be announced.
