Who is "MAXX"? April 11, 2012
Url: http://www.2thamaxx.com "Its rare to find a Poet whose style melds substance and truth with disregard for how passionate and impactful his or her art is."
This is a fact when it comes to Maxx.
Born in Atlanta, to a single
mother and a petty hustler
turned absentee father; Maxx
spent much of his formative
years bouncing from one
house to the next.
It wasn't until the traumatic loss of his mother
that he was introduced to stability after being
transplanted to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to
be raised by his grandparents. Their
spirituality and tenured wisdom combined
with the struggles of his adolescence has
significantly influenced his art.
His once therapeutic outlet eventually
matured into a full-fledged passion, which he
expressed at local talent shows, church
functions and any other venue that afforded
him the chance to perform. He has since
carved a niche that melds his affinity for
music with expressive, poetry and oration.
His tone has a texture reminiscent of the preachers, blues singers and soul musicians that inspired him in his youth. It resonates in his current project, a poetic inspirational Series named “Maxxemum: The Soul of a Come-up”.
It is a collection of stories, perspective and inspirational discourse complemented by the riveting sounds and production of Melodious Monk. This collaboration translates each poem into captivating scenes and experiences. This series is a reminder to us everyday people that having a dream is cool, but converting that dream into a reality is
paramount!
In the first poem of this series entitled “Show, Prove & Execute” he dares to challenge society's misconception that success is automatic once you earn a degree. As a college graduate he has learned that this is not always true. He encourages others to develop their skill, pursue their passion and determine if obtaining a degree is most beneficial. With this project, Maxx continues to spearhead a motivational movement from the grassroots level and it will truly inspire you.
